Thought Leadership in Coaching and Education

The First Semi-Annual ALC Conference

June 25th and 26th in Portland, Oregon

ALC presents: Thought Leadership in Coaching and Education

Academic Life Coaching was founded on a dream that every high school and college student could experience the magic and power of coaching. Over ten years ago, founder John Andrew Williams started tinkering with coaching concepts and their impact on young people and created the Academic Life Coaching Program which has now been used to coach thousands of students worldwide.

This summer Academic Life Coaching is hold its first ever live event. It is a chance to connect in-person with colleagues and further the field of life coaching in an academic setting. The event is an opportunity to listen and hangout with leaders in the field of education and positive psychology, network with Academic Life Coaching and professionals interested in academics and education, and attend skill building workshops.

You won’t want to miss your chance to:

  • discuss the changing landscape of education
  • learn new coaching skills
  • connect and network in person with members of the ALC community
  • gain inspiration and motivation to further your ALC career

To top it all off, this is a great opportunity to explore Portland, Oregon, with the conference itself hosted in one of Portland’s unique and beautiful venues. (And June is seriously the best time of the year in an already beautiful Portland summer.)

Conference Location and Venue

Get to know Portland, Oregon

Also known as “The City of Roses”, Portland, Oregon is located in the beautiful Willamette Valley, just an hour away from Mt. Hood. 11 bridges span the Willamette River and connect the east and west sides of the city. Grab a cup of joe at a local coffeeshop, explore the unique neighborhoods across the city, or enjoy a meal at one of the amazing restaurants the city has to offer. Want to get outside and be active? Take an afternoon hike in Washington Park or to nearby Multnomah Falls, or grab your bike for a ride on one of the local trails.

McMenamins Kennedy School

Built in 1915, the McMenamins Kennedy School is a restored elementary school turned into a unique hotel. The school’s classrooms have been transformed into 57 guest rooms, some still containing the original chalk boards. Visitors and guests can grab a bite to eat or a drink in the hotel’s main restaurant or one of the small bars, catch a movie at the theater, or take a dip in the soaking pool. The conference will be held in the school’s gymnasium, which has been restored into a beautiful event space, complete with an outdoor patio area.

Keynote Speaker

John is the founder of Coach Training EDU, formerly known as Academic Life Coaching. He is the author of five books, an international speaker, and the lead trainer for the programs offered by Coach Training EDU. In addition, John also leads professional development trainings for universities, schools, and businesses who are interested in adapting coaching skills and tools to their work. He is passionate about changing education and believes that coaching is the future.
