What is life coaching?

The International Coaching Federation defines life coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. In a beneficial coaching relationship, the client is honored as the expert of their life and work and it is believed that every client is creative, resourceful, and whole. The role of a life coach is to provide support to enhance the resources, skills, and creativity that the client already has within. What is the International Coaching Federation (ICF)?

The International Coaching Federation (ICF) is a non-profit organization with over 40,000 members, known as a coach training hub for individuals and organizations. Because of its long-standing presence and advocacy for coaching as a notable profession, ICF grows significantly each year and continues to expand as a global staple in the coaching community. The credentials provided by ICF are respected by coaches everywhere. Since 1995, coaches have been training and partnering with this global organization to educate themselves and grow their practices.

What is an Accredited Coach Training Program (ACTP)?

An ACTP is an Accredited Coach Training Program which is a thorough, comprehensive coach training experience that adheres to the International Coach Federation’s standards and requirements for certifying coaches. Coach Training EDU offers three ACTPs; each program includes three courses. To complete the ACTP, all three courses are required.

Do I need a certification to become a life coach?

Receiving a life coach credential (ACC, PCC, or MCC) from the International Coaching Federation (ICF) verifies your credibility as a life coach by confirming that you're aware of the theoretical and practical components of professional coaching. Certification also serves as an effective marketing tool while establishing your coaching practice or advancing your career within an organization.

Life coaching is a multi-billion dollar industry. In 2020, coaches in the United States averaged an annual income of $62,500*. More than 70% of CTEDU graduates earn coaching-related income.
