New Blog Platform, New Blog on Education

October 21, 2013 by John Andrew Williams

With the end of the 2012-2013 Academic year, we did an analysis of our website and decided to use a different platform on the backend of our blog. Moving forward were are going to be focused on blogging about education, life coaching, and what parents can do to help their teenagers thrive.

Yo-Yo Ma once said something along the lines that it’s important to look at what we as a culture are continuing spent time on and pass down to future generations. He says that he’s constantly rethinking and looking at classical works, works that have been around for over 200 years. And he asks himself the questions of how he can express these musical ideas differently and capture part of their essence in a way that’s understandable and accessible to contemporary audiences.

My hope is that this new blog on education hopes to do something similar with the ideas surrounding education and equipping young people with this kind of knowledge to succeed as adults.

It seems that there is so much information available about the best practices in education, parenting, and helping people do what they can to lift the filled, successful lives. The purpose of this blog is to look at that growing body of material and share what we have found to work best.

We have the benefit of working one-to-one with students from many different backgrounds, and we have a good idea of what works best. Our hope is that we can share with you what we’ve found and make a profound positive impact on future generations.

A Blog to Help Parents

It’s a brave New World with the fantastic speed in which technology is changing the world. It seems that ideas of what’s acceptable and even the qualities and characteristics desired for middle school, high school, and college students are shifting. Children who are teenagers today have grown up with cell phones and smartphones and look at the world with different assumptions of what’s possible and what constitutes work.

The work of this generation is going to be think about the challenges that face human beings collectively to create solutions that respect individuals AND look out for the benefit of the greater good.

For parents, with a world that’s speeding up, it’s tough to know how to chart the best path forward. For example, is it the best path to attend a four-year school or instead use that money as an investment to help your child start his or her own company and get an online degree through Harvard or MIT in their new free programs?

These are big questions and questions that will become more poignant as our stance to sharing information and education continues to adapt to the awesome power of sharing and learning made possible by the Internet.

This generation of young people is going to face challenges beyond the scope of what we can currently imagine. We believe helping students become deeply self-aware and understand their own brand of creativity and leadership is the best way forward.

Thanks so much for reading this blog! We encourage you to follow us and join our Academic Life Coaching tribe of people passionate about education and looking for solutions to best educate children.
