How to Get Ahead

October 18, 2012 by John Andrew Williams

When I studied the way most teenagers spend their time, I was astounded at the amount of time spent with split attention.

The biggest and most disrupted I found: engaged in social networking while trying to do homework.

The biggest and most useful habit I’ve seen student do that makes the biggest difference in their work and whether or not they are ahead: focused on one thing until it’s finished.

With the opportunity to be blissfully distracted at our fingertips, the young people who can learn to balance their life and include long periods of focus are the ones who will get ahead.
