Grades as a Limit

September 18, 2012 by John Andrew Williams

Schools, parents, and students often point to grades as a measurement of success.  It’s easier to crack the history book and put in the two hours of reading if you know that you have to take a test the next day.

The problem is that grades are a lousy crutch and encourage students to do the bare minimum amount of work to get their desired grade.

Does it makes any sense to keep studying for the sheer joy of learning?
