Asking Good Questions

December 11, 2012 by John Andrew Williams

When is the class on how to ask good questions?

Just for the sake of creating a little realism by putting an idea in the context of a typical setting, imagine a crowded hallway in a high school. It’s in the afternoon, with only two more classes left before school is out. The crowd is beginning to thin out and find their way to their classes. Unfortunately, Jack is about to be late for class.

J: Can you believe what time it is? The bell is about to ring and I’m going to be late. I’ve got to get to the class that teaches us how to ask insightful and meaningful questions that deepen our understanding.

That would be awesome. Why can’t we have classes like that?
