About Brittany Barden
Brittany Barden grew up across the U.S. (from South Dakota to New Hampshire to Kansas, Texas, and more) before settling in Colorado Springs. All that moving is likely responsible for her love of travel, which some years exceeds the amount of time she stays at home! Brittany chose to study her passions in college–politics, history, and psychology–and graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences.
Brittany’s coaching adventure started right out of college when she began working as an Academic Life Coach for Lumerit Education, a higher education coaching company. She immediately knew coaching was the one thing she wanted to do for the rest of her life. Since then, she has worked with more than 200 clients and has over 3,000 hours of coaching experience. As a lover of learning, she has continued to pursue additional training and education, earning six certifications so far. Among them are credentials as a Certified Academic Life Coach and Certified Wellness Coach through CoachTrainingEDU and as a Professional Certified Coach through the International Coach Federation.
Brittany is passionate about walking alongside high school and college students who are making the transition to successful adulthood. She spends her summers volunteering at summer camps for teens and is a guest speaker on risk avoidance and whole-person wellness to freshman high school students around Colorado Springs. She also applies her coaching skills to a broader audience; training new coaches, launching a coaching program for non-profit directors through Save the Storks, supporting college students who are transitioning to the workforce, and exploring the possibility of an academic life coaching program for refugees in her community. In her mind, there is no such thing as too much life coaching!
Fun Facts About Brittany
I am in the process of crossing all 50 states off my travel bucket list; only 9 left to go!
I have a special needs sister, Alyssa, who is a highlight of my life.
My backup life plan is to be a tour guide in Ireland.
Why Academic Life Coaching?
My love of coaching lies in the deep belief expressed in another individual’s ability to achieve their fullest potential. High school and college students may be most in need of that belief and confidence, yet are the least likely to receive it. My passion is to call out the best in young adults and help them see they are more than capable of succeeding where they are at and transitioning to a full and satisfying adult life.
What is great about Colorado Springs?
When I first visited Colorado Springs (as a teenager!) I decided this was the place I would retire someday. Little did I know my plans would come true much sooner! I love the mountains and open spaces that come with living on the Front Range, the hipster coffee shops, the outdoor adventures of skiing, hiking, and camping, and the fantastic community of people I have through church and work.
