Ancient civilizations understood the power of words. The ability to define something gave the speaker a certain power over whatever what being defined. If you can name it, you can begin to have some influence over it.

If you’re wanting to change something, change what you call it. You don’t necessarily have to do so out loud, the inner dialogue is just as important.

For instance, let’s take the ever popular word procrastination and instead use the phrase missing out on fully living.

It used to be I don’t want to procrastinate.

Now it’s I don’t want to miss out on fully living.

Changes things doesn’t it?

A little absurd? Totally.
