Enchanted Forest is a theme park about an hour south of Portland, Oregon. Designed about 50 years ago, it still has the feel of a family owned park out in the middle of a forest with nursery-rhymed attractions, one roller-coaster, and a water ride.
It’s utterly charming. In a world where so much is relentlessly polished and scaled (think of Disney and its increasingly cliched characters), the rough edges and narrow walkways are pure joy.
The magic of Enchanted Forest isn’t in the quality of the park. It’s in the guts that its creator Roger Tofte and his family took to take the leap and create something special… and do the hard work to succeed.
