Quiet (and Productive) Peace

As a high school Latin teacher, I loved the feeling of students studying and working silently on Latin.  There was a certain peacefulness in the air that lent itself to productive thought.  

Peace can be found in the quiet reading room in a college library where the loudest sound is the turning of pages.

Peace can be found on a road trip with the sound of the car’s engine humming and two kids sleeping soundly in the backseat with the parents chit-chatting about life.

Peace can be found when taking notes from a textbook with pen and paper.

Peace can be the sound of typing in an office.

Inevitably, the spell will eventually be broken and the concentration will go elsewhere.

The art of being a successful student and sane human being is in creating opportunities for quiet (and productive) peace.
