No.
Listening to classical music or jazz with no words, maybe. But in the informal studies I’ve done as a high school teacher and in the work that I’ve done as an Academic Life Coach, listening to music is more of a distraction than an aid to scholarship.
And I can’t even believe that I often – yes, often!!! – get asked by students, “Do you think it’s OK if I watch TV (or go on Facebook) while doing homework, if I can still get my work finished?”
